This week's Menu (10/15 - 10/19)

Gluten Free Menu Swap Monday

This the first week of Natalie's Gluten-Free Menu swap on Mondays! I'm glad to be a part of this great group of bloggers! If you have a gluten-free menu you'd like to share, please let Natalie, of Gluten Free Mommy know. Different gluten-free bloggers will host the swap each week! I can't wait to see what we all come up with!

Natalie's secret ingredient this week is basil. I will be using sweet basil that I bought in Bird-in-hand, PA, in two of my dishes this week. I'm sure it won't be too hard to guess which recipes will include the sweet basil.

I'll be spreading out some of the Amish recipes that I want to share throughout the next few weeks. I didn't realize some of the ingredients I needed for these recipes would be hard to find around here! Apparently ground ham and fresh beets aren't high priorities on shopping lists in eastern NC! But I still have quite a few great recipes I am going to share with you this week! I hope you will enjoy the recipes and the menu! (The recipe for dishes with a * will be posted later in the week)

A Rare Moment of Tranquility

These two rarely get along!
Max (the black one) is usually chasing, biting, fighting, etc... with Maya (the grey one).
But they had some loving moments last night... maybe they have finally accepted that they are siblings for life whether they like it or not!

Make sure to check out many other weekly menus at Org Junkie's great site:

Check back tomorrow for a great Ginger Lemon Muffin recipe!

  1. I love pot roast! That's just one of those nice comfort foods, particularly once the weather starts getting cooler. I'm looking forward to the recipe. That trip you took sounded so wonderful.

  2. How did I miss the Shoo Fly Pie, after all the fuss I made over it?

  3. This all sounds delicious! Just shows how much I (don't) know--I thought GF would be extremely limited. Glad to know differently now! (PS: you have me scared to death to try this Raspberry Chicken now. But thanks for stopping by my blog!)

  4. Hi Wendy! I loved your site!! Thanks for your comment! Believe it or not, being gluten-free is very versatile!

Oh please do try the raspberry chicken! hopefully you'll have a much better recipe than I did! My husband is super picky about stuff he's never tried before, so he was not a happy camper... he still can't get used to non-lettuce salads (bean salads, pasta salad..etc..) I would love to know how yours comes out!!

  5. Your menu looks fab - and I admire anyone able to STICK with their plans! I gave up - I just buy enough ingredients for three or four dishes then pick and choose as I have time!

  6. No worries Ginger!!! You didn't miss it! I'm going to post it this week! ;-) I hope your doing well! i loved your post on the birthday party!!

  7. Ginger lemon muffins..YUM!! Is that where you got the name for your blog?

    I want some.

    Great menu.

I agree, I love the support of fellow gluten free bloggers; what a great community!

  8. Wow! If I can find my cats, I know where they'll be! At your house! I aslo have a black one and a grey one, very recently acquired, we've had them for just over a week!

  9. Karen -- The trip was SO nice!! if you ever get a chance to visit up there, you definitely should! Great place!! I'm making the pot roast later in the week. I've been a little off schedule from not feeling well, but I like having a menu, even if I don't follow it to a T!

Abby -- Thanks girl! As you can see, i don't always stick to it night by night... but it is good to have the plan! I'm normally not much of a planner, so it's good to have something that I can somewhat plan with!

SM -- Thanks so much for the comments! It gave me a lot to write about for the ginger lemon muffins post!

Dianne -- Oh no, another person with the kitty addiction! My husband and I have 4 of these critters, and THAT's IT!!! No more!! That's all I can take! LOL... but seriously I love my kitties so much! You can't be lonely when you have cats!! Thanks for commenting!! YOu and your kitties can come and visit anytime!
