Over the month of March 2012, we reviewed 8 of the newest and best resources for following a whole foods, paleo diet.
Since you've stuck with me through this paleo cookbook-filled month, I want to give you something in return!
Here are the resources we reviewed:
- Paleo Magazine
- Paleo Pals: Jimmy and the Carrot Rocket Ship by Sarah Fragraso
- The Healthy Gluten Free Life by Tammy Credicott
- Eat Like a Dinosaur by Paleo Parents
- The Food Lovers Make it Paleo
- Paleo Comfort Foods by Julie and Charles Mayfield
- Well Fed by Melissa Joulwan
- Everyday Paleo by Sarah Fragoso
Would you like to have your choice of one of these books OR a one year subscription to Paleo Magazine?
I thought you might. So he's what you can do. I'm going to giveaway two books from this series. I'm buying them and sending them to you on my dime (because who doesn't love Amazon Prime free shipping?) Two winners will get to choose the book they would most like and it's on me!
This contest is now over!
All winners were chosen by Random.org!
Congratulations to:
#24 "Hello there, I would love to have Eat like a dinosaur!! I have two beautiful boys, whom I struggle to teach Paleo because I struggle myself, that's why my second choice would be the subscription to Paleo magazine. Thanks! Socorro G.
#9 "Definitely think I would like The Healthy Gluten Free Life" cookbook as it has egg/dairy free recipes and soy free. I'm reactive to soy and gluten as well so it'd be a good thing to learn those recipes. Kayla B.
AND because there were over 200 entries I had a bonus 3rd winner!
#32 "I like paleo comfort foods a lot and have enjoyed several recipes from it." Marjorie
And thank you bunches to everyone for reading along this month through some of my favorite naturally gluten free, paleo cookbooks!
Thank you for doing this!
ReplyDeleteI would like Eat Like a Dinosaur because I have 5 kids and we've been 100% paleo for 3 months and loving it! My kids help out with pretty much every dinner and I'd love to share this with them as well. my email is christina(dot)speed(at)gmail(dot)com My fingers will remained crossed! :-)
ReplyDeleteI follow gingerlemongirl on facebook, that's how I found out about this awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would have a hard time choosing as I am just in the educating myself phase of transitioning my diet (and hopefully that of my family too) to low carb and probably on to paleo and I would love to get my hands on any of the books. But I think my first choice would be "Eat Like a Dinosaur" because it would be helpful in explaining my food choices to my 4 year old son and would be helpful in moving him towards Paleo too. I really want to see how his life could be improved as he is starting to struggle with eczema, allergies, and possibly ADD. I think we could nip those things in the bud so he'll have a successful start to his schooling. bonnie at weboardshop dot com

Just signed up to be a follower of yours on facebook--new to Paleo but trying it for an autoimmune disease with high hopes it will help where conventional medicine has failed miserably. Thank you so much for doing this. I would actually like your cookbook but it's not on the list because I need to make friends with my slow cooker. I have two and am lucky if I use them once a year. For some reason, it's intimadating. Hoping your cookbook will help me!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite of those cookbooks is Eat Like a Dinosaur. I already have it and have made 3 recipes from it. It's awesome for families with kids of any age. Of course, if I win I'd choose another book, probably Food Lovers Make It Paleo or Well Fed as I've heard good things about both of those.
ReplyDeleteRe-entering since I forgot to leave my name and email on the last one! Ellen excellentjeni@comcast.net.

ReplyDeleteI have to choose just one cookbook??? I already have Everyday Paleo, Well Fed and Make It Paleo. I even gave a copy of Make It Paleo to my mom, hoping to encourage her to take more control of her health. I got a subscription to Paleo Magazine for Christmas. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to get a copy of The Healthy Gluten Free Life by Tammy Credicott. I work a lot in classrooms that support kids with various disabilities and food issues. Having one that covered GF/CF and Egg allergies would be wonderful! I enjoy making foods for the kids and getting them excited about what they can eat without difficulty. Recently I made Coconut Chocolate Chip cookies from Civilized Caveman and took them to school. One of the boys was SO thrilled to have a cookie he could eat that not only tasted great but that he KNEW he could eat without issue.

Tough choice which book I'd choose. I'd really like The Healthy Gluten Free Life by Tammy Credicott and Eat Like a Dinosaur. I guess my top choice today will be Healthy Gluten Free Life. Myself and two of my children need to be gluten-free. We are always looking for healtlhy, gluten-free cookbooks with tasty recipes that also offer good nutrition. It sounds like this book would provide us with options for that.

ReplyDeleteHealthy Gluten Free Life by Tammy!!!! Because....I've met her and tried many of her foods and she is an outstanding cook. Mostly, I really want to try the English Muffins....which aren't strictly Paleo but are healthier and closer than any other option I've seen. Love her products. Seriously!
ReplyDeleteI have read great reviews of the Eat Like a Dinosaur book so that would be my choice. Thank you for the giveaway. cindym119@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteSo, I currently own part of these. My copy of Paleo Comfort Foods is getting worn corners already!
ReplyDeleteThe book I would choose is Well Fed. I had a bunch of copies right when they came out, but have given them all away - including my own!I like it because I do a Whole30 about 3 times per year, and all but one recipe in the book are Whole30-approved.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I would choose Well Fed. I bought a bunch of copies at Christmas, but then ended up giving them all away as presents - including my own! The pictures are beautiful, and that's usually what inspires me to cook. Also, all but one of the recipes are Whole30 approved, and I do a Whole30 about 3 times per year.

All of the Paleo books sound great, however, I would absolutely LOVE Melissa's book Well Fed. I am so busy with my job and welcome the idea of being able to prepare foods for an entire week in just a few hours on a weekend day. All of her recipes sound healthy, delicious, and most importantly, energy sustaining. I love Melissa's blog and find her approach to food to be refreshing and inspiring and would be thrilled to nab a copy of her fantastic book!

I'd like to give Everday Paleo a try. Our diet could use a shake up, and as much as I try to ignore the effects of the Modern American Diet, the truth is, we're suffering. Since you gave this book high marks, I figure it would be the best place to start.

Hi!
ReplyDeleteI shared this post on facebook as well as liking your page! :)
I think what I would be most interested in is either The Food Lovers Make it Paleo, or Well Fed.
I just recently purchased Paleo Comfort Foods and I LOVE IT!!! I think it along with the addition of the two books above will help even more along with my journey into the paleo lifestyle.
I have had a difficult time getting my family on board with me throughout this experience but since I received Paleo Comfort Foods it has been easier to transition them; I guess it's easier for them to see recipes in a cook book than me telling them what is what, and that eating this way can actually really be delicious and not depriving at all.
It has also made my life a little easier by having a go-to for finding easy recipes when feeling a little stressed on what I should be eating, instead of grabbing something quick and probably unhealthy solely for convenience sake. I had usually before just done a search online for recipes, which can be a little time consuming if you're having a hard time finding something specific.
Anyway, thanks for having this contest up! I didn't know about your blog until someone posted this on FB, I'll be checking out the rest of your blog! Cheers! :)

ReplyDeleteI absolutely Love Love Love "Well Fed" by Melissa Joulwan. Every recipe comes out delicious, you just can't go wrong. I love the way she walks you through organizing and preparing your meals for the week ahead. I love the suggestions for alternatives to the basic recipe. I think she's a genius with her use of spices and herbs and she knows how to really pull the maximum flavor from every ingredient. She is, in my opinion, the "Julia Child" of Paleo.

My fave book on this list is Well Fed. I've been cooking from Melissa's blog for the past year and a half, and I'm so so so happy that she finally has all her yumminess out in a book. Can not say enough good things about this book. You can also get a pdf version which you can read on your Kindle or iPad for an additional $1 when you buy the book so you can feel ok about lending your copy out to share the love.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Well Fed. I have been cooking from Melissa's blog for about a year and a half, and she seriously has some fo the best recipes, paleo or not. Each recipe has been lovingly perfected and thoroughly tested, and you can not go wrong cooking her stuff. I absolutely love Well Fed by Melissa Joulwan. I'm working my way through the recipes- so far, everything has been amazing, plus her weekly cookup is what inspired me to try Paleo in the first place- that it would be manageable to stick with. I use at least 3-4 recipes every week!

Well Fed is my favorite book out of your list by far - there isnt a single thing that we have made from it that we havent absolutely loved! I only have the download copy, so I would dearly love to have the hard copy so I could quite drooling on my keyboard when I look up her recipes. :)

Would love to have the Paleo Magazine or the Everyday Paleo Book. Would love to have all of them matter of fact. I have just gotten into eating Paleo and I love the way I feel. No cravings and I notice a difference big time when I fall off track. Saurus - Hayawoman@hotmail.com

ReplyDeleteI have only read Paleo Comfort foods so far. I really liked quite a few of the recipes I tried, but I would love to have Well Fed. It's the one I have been dancing around buying for a couple months.
